New electrical system powers Parsley Energy's Delaware assets

Priority Power Management has energized a new private electrical system for Texas-based Parsley Energy Inc. to serve the company’s southern Delaware Basin assets in Pecos and Reeves counties.

Parsley Energy—an independent oil and natural gas company—focuses on the acquisition and development of unconventional oil and natural gas reserves in the Permian Basin of West Texas.

Priority, an independent consulting firm with offices in Midland and Arlington, Texas, said the system consists of a new 50/83 mega volt amp (MVA) electrical high-voltage substation and 33-circuit miles of primary distribution. The substation has the capacity to serve the equivalent of 39,000 homes annually. Four primary distribution feeders from the substation extend through Parsley’s southern Delaware Basin acreage to power oil and gas production.

Pat Ennis, Priority’s founding principal, said, “By expanding our services to include energy infrastructure, we are positioned to provide Parsley with comprehensive energy services from the grid to the well.”

Priority has been providing energy management and consulting services to Parsley since the company was formed in 2008. In July 2016, Parsley entered into a 10-year agreement with Priority for energy services that include engineering, procurement, construction, asset management, and the operation and maintenance of Parsley’s electrical system.

“Securing adequate electric delivery capacity and supply for our operations in a timely and cost-effective manner is critical to our success,” said Paul Treadwell, Parsley’s senior vice president of production operations. “We have trusted in Priority Power since our beginning, and nearly 10 years later, they have continued to deliver critical services to us with high quality.”
